Selling Your Product Out in the Open
Out of many forms of advertising out there, the majority and highest visibility of them is outdoor advertising. If you were in a big city such as New York and you took a look around, you would city advertisements on the sides of buses, buildings and benches. You can find them anywhere including giant televisions on main strips of road with heavy traffic.
Even though you have high exposure with your ads because of how large they can be, they are often common and people have become accustomed to them. People would most likely ignore the ad because they are just so used to running in to them everywhere. Out in the open advertising can be one of the less chosen ones, but people still do choose it. Have a clear message and make sure the ad is clean so people can understand it.
If there is a concentrated area of people, then you could put ads that are directed towards them (such as Caucasian, African-American, Asian and so forth). There is no real competition with other advertisements when compared to radio and television, considering that one ad comes up after the next and it is easier to forget yours if it is not catchy. The best part about advertising outdoors is that you can have the ad up day and night for as long as you want!
When there is a traffic jam and people have nothing to do except sit there and wait for people to move, most people let their eyes wander. When the eyes wander, they can see ads that are placed on billboards or notice anything else that is large and has something with a brand, a logo and a message. They will concentrate more to the radio and listen to the songs and talk stations, paying attention to commercials in between songs. Flipping back and forth between their favorite radio stations, they will be forced to sit through the commercial if they do not feeling like turning the station to find something else.
A lot of people do not spend most of their time at home and the advertisements that are outside can get their attention for a large portion of their day. Many companies take advantage of this, such as real estate, retail, cell phone, insurance, restaurants and financial businesses. You might want to consider following in other successful businesses success when looking to this advertising for an option. Make sure that it leaves an impact in the first few seconds and people do not respond negatively towards it.
