How Postcard Design Can Get You a Second Date

Think about dating when you're into marketing. What's the first thing that you want your date to feel upon seeing you? Be impressed, right? This is also true with postcard design. The recipient's first impression is the most important one.

First Date

Your postcard's first date with your prospective client begins the instant that the latter's name was written at the back of the card. After the mailman has dropped it off to the person's mailbox, this is how the postcard design will work its magic or not.

So how do you make a positive impression?

1. Match the design according to your products. You can be creative but do not be vague. Your aim is to sell and not to make people solve crossword puzzles.

Just like in dating, your clothes should suit you at every angle. It has to fit right and make you look presentable. You don't want to look a teenager when in fact you're already into your 40s.

2. Use colors that are pleasing to the eyes. Make them match to the age group of the people on your list.

This also applies when you go out with a person you like. You'll choose the color of clothes that match your skin tone and as a result, will make you look right.

3. Your pictures, graphics and illustrations must capture what you are trying to sell. You have to present such in an artistic manner that people will find it worth keeping.

There must be something else about you that your date will find intriguing. They should be able to relate with you to keep the conversation flowing.

4. Include tips or valuable information on your cards. Through this, there are more chances that people will keep them for future reference.

You must not bore people with too many details about you when out on a date. You must not be a know-it-all, but instead, a person who knows what to do in times when your partner will need your help.

5. Use catchy tag lines. Do not hard sell. Being so obvious about your main reason why you sent out the cards is a big turn off.

Think about it like you are courting someone. You don't ask them to marry you the first time you meet. That will definitely freak them out.

Aim for the Second Date

When your cards have impressed their recipients, you're already in luck. There are more chances now that they will read what the cards have to say. If they like it and they find something intriguing about it, they will seek you out to avail of your products and services.

That is your aim for your postcards and for your date. You want people to recognize your value and find you worth their time to check out.

What Happens Next Is Up To You

If people have already gone to you, you must do everything to keep them coming back. Your work does not end with your postcard design. You have to keep thinking of ways for the partnership to last and for the relationship to blossom.
