Stop! Drop and Roll
Stop! Drop and roll we were told Not bad advice if you're on fire Of course others might want to If being fired upon in dangerous combat Some drop down a bit when dancing Others when in passionate romancing Roll with the punches when you're boxing Be flexible and adaptable when fighting Don't run through life with your hair on fire Neither let your head's thoughts overwhelm Nor overcome you with excessive desire Just be calm and patiently push on through Step by step, day by day, season by season Steadily, courageously, and consistently continue To make your way in this dog eat dog wild world As you set goals, work diligently, live your dreams Don't yield to those who complain and profusely scream Nor be diminished by those who seek to ridicule and demean Because life is not always a sweet fair tale as it may seem Nevertheless keep your head up and go forward in faith Remembering God above will give you power, and grace To endure every challenge and courageously finish the race Until you arrive in glory to see His marvelous shining face Meanwhile on earth stay calm as you lovingly cherish and embrace The precious people around you and those afar throughout the world Because your God above won't disappoint and will make you bold Arise and shine because the light has come - the light of God's Son Jesus Christ the Prince of peace, to quiet your soul and give you release From turmoil, tension, stress, and anxiety as you rest in His sweet divinity.
Troubled Love - A Mystery After All
" The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing - and then marry him." Cher "Love is the self-delusion we manufacture to justify the trouble we take to have sex." Daniel S. Greenberg "If pleasures are greatest in anticipation, just remember that this is also true of trouble." Elbert Hubbard They say that love is the best feeling ever felt by human being. That when both of you are together, you will be able to work things out. That you can do everything in the name of love and this love will last for ever. But how true are these words? How will love last forever in this world full of mystery?
Writing a Poem
When we write words in an organized way, why do we call it a poem? What makes it different to any other written work? Poetry, like any work of art, requires emotion and creativity. It involves using the heart as much as the head. Many poets write about things that matter most in life, like love and heartache, life and death. But what really makes it poetry is that the writer is painting beautiful images and combining this with rhythm and meter. A poem is a story compressed into a few words. These words make an impact and leave a lasting impression. Poetry has rhythm and meter. The rise and fall of the sea with the ebb and flow of the tides is a good example of rhythm.
Love Without Time
Done Under The Influence Of: "Johannes Brahms's (1833-1897) String Sextet No. 1 Andante ma moderato in B-flat Major". Title: Love Without Time Where are going? Where have we been my love? Where has time taken us since we've been apart? Who knows and who gives a dam? Do we need to know anything about the past or the outside world? No, all we need know is each other and what is in the now. It is the sound and the warmth of each others' breath in the dark that we both long for. It is the solace of our embrace, loving and nameless, that we need and desire more then anything else. So I say let take us.
Elephants in the Sky A Story About Timbuktu Reedited and Revised 7-2008
[1980s, Lee Evens in Mali, Timbuktu/Africa] This story was originally one of the few selected to be considered to be put into the San Francisco, Magazine of Literature, as an award winning story, fall season of 2006. Advance: Lee was discharged from the Army in 1980, whereupon, he traveled the world, one of those locations was in Mali, by the legendary city of Timbuktu; whereupon he found himself in the middle of a plague, a plague of locust. [Diary-review] There were swarms of locust over the top of my car, in front of me, swarms, a dark shadow covering the sky, descending onto the road-in front of me, behind me, it was locusts, locusts, locusts-locusts everywhere: so thick, impenetrable, layers upon layers flooded the sky, that my car was slipping and sliding as if on ice.
Poems Carl Sandburg Wrote
Journalist/critic H.L. Mencken called poet Carl Sandburg "an American in every pulse-beat". It's probably safe to say that if this is true, then poems Carl Sandburg are the beats of that pulse. "Hope Is A Tattered Flag" expresses the dreaminess of Americans and their staunch attitude of always having a dream, and holding out until they get it. It expresses in very concrete terms, why hope is so important. It uses ordinary language to describe hope, yet makes hope concrete in a way that ordinary language usually does not! The poem is beautiful in a way that most of us could never use language - yet in a way that we can all understand.
When Convenience Kills - Something to Think About
When convenience kills Is such even a possibility? Could such a thought be An absolute foolish absurdity? Perhaps a mistatement entirely? No my friend on the contrary For even I myself do also agree I appreciate modern convenience I consider it indeed a brilliance However when it begins to kill That is a deadly and toxic pill Something I can't happily swallow Eagerly, nor blindly with a thrill Because pesticides on plants Eventually enter our mouths Pass through the blood stream Hinder our physical well being Harming babies and adults alike Diminishing sexual reproductivity Reducing your immune system Than there are foul food additives Which preserve and prolong food While adding to our kidneys toxicity Polluting our livers with artificiality Harmful chemicals we can't pronounce "But the food has a longer shelf life!
Baba Mi
She, Always They Adore For In Songs, She's Praised And In Poems, She's Lauded But You, They've All Ignored Not Even With The Roles Unto You Saddled By Nature As Head O' The House And Winner O' The Bread... Even Of Rice And Stew! ***** Just Because You've Chosen To Be Of Actions Than Words... Just Because Winning The Bread Will Not Allow You Sit With Us To Sing The Songs Of Tales And Just Because Our Obstinance; Our Mischiefs Will Not Bring Your Tears But Lashes, Hot Lashes To Our Soft Stubborn Buttocks. ***** Yea, Your Song They Refuse To Sing In Poems, In Books, In Schools... But This I Write For You For I Know Without Your Being Her 'Nine' Could Not Have Been And I Know Without Your Interest Forever She'll Stay With Her Poppa-N-Momma And Forever I'll Stay Within Your Legs Not Like A Protruding Belly But In Liquid Undischarged!
Biting the Hand That Feeds You
Biting the hand that graciously feeds you Sadly this is often what we carelessly do Unappreciative wives berate husbands Unruly children disrespect their parents Disregarded altogether are grandparents This is the foul vicious cycle of the selfish life Is it any wonder therefore there is much strife? Disruption and chaos overwhelming our homes When the almighty I vocalizes an arrogant tone Rough, rude, and always ready to cause a ruckus To make our demands and get what we do want The vile enthroned self does not care about others Will without hesitation alienate sisters and brothers Demonize and divide to exalt me, myself, and I Whatever it takes to remain lofty lord and supreme Of my egocentric world and me mesmerized destiny Bulldoze over spouse and love others outside the house Put on smile, facade, and pretense to impress people But behind closed doors terrorize all within proximity Because life is all about the princess - pretty and lovely Or not?
