Making Champions - Champions in the Making
Making champions is an arduous process indeed
First it begins with a noble desire for which we bleed
A burning desire to which we fully dedicate ourselves
Focus our attention, vital energies, and shut out all else
Endurance keeps us steadfast and carries us fully through
When we think to quit, complain, criticize, and make excuse
Every champion has a mentor to whom they submit and confide
A voice to whom they earnestly listen and swallow their pride
An encouraging coach enflames, fires us up, and lights our fuse
Invigorating our passion, compelling us to action, renewing our vision
Providing necessary direction, insight, and a purposeful mission.
Nevertheless every champion arises and goes to bed alone
Unfortunately many potential champions succumb to pressure
Many lose their way by reason of distraction and indecision
Others cave, cower, and cripple under another's opinion
Few push through negativity with personal power and dominion
To arise mightily from within, where every champion does begin
To renew their mind, harness their strength in a moment in time
To cultivate mental discipline, physical peak performance, and skill
These are the things many who are mediocre in their jealousy kill
As they try to pull you down to their futility, passivity, and dull level
Only a champion can keep their head focused and life fully harnessed
Anything less with prove in a grueling competition to be utterly disastrous
Every champion therefore needs wholehearted commitment and devotion
To which they we can give and lose themselves with tireless inspiration
Until ultimately with exhilaration they arrive at their desirable destination
Putting feet to their faith, as they yield to desire making them a champion.
