You Can Always Come Home - A Christian Bible Poem

A Man had two sons who worked the lands.

They worked very hard to the days demands.

The older was wise, but the younger was not.

He looked for his father for money he sought.

Approaching his father, he looked up to say.

May I have my inheritance today?

Their father he loved him and he did not fight.

He divided his money to his sons happy sight.

The older son stayed and helped on the farm,

But the younger ran off to his fathers alarm.

He packed all his bags and took all his money,

Leaving his brother to work while its sunny.

He squandered his money on fortune and fame,

And every day he lived just the same.

Soon enough the money ran out,

And the younger son was left to pout.

His friends all left him, he had no connection,

His house was gone, he had no protection.

He was hungry but he had none to eat.

And it was'nt long before his defeat.

After walking and walking on that road of dirt.

His stomach was was starving he had barely a shirt.

His father back home thought his son was no more.

As he walked down the road with his body so sore.

He got a job doing pig feeding.

And for food his stomach was pleading.

Even the pig slop, looked like a treat.

Oh what he would do for just one bite to eat!

"Wait!" he said, he thought of his father.

"Why and I here and why do I bother?"

"Even his servants have more than me."

"I'll go for hire" said the servant to be.

"I'm no longer worthy to to say I'm his son."

"After I've spent all his money on fun."

And with that, the younger son was gone.

Walking the road, the son traveled on.

Approaching the house, he knocked on the door.

At the sight of his son he fell to the floor.

"Your home!" he cried, "to my belief"

But the son was confused at his fathers relief.

He received a new robe and his fathers best ring.

His father was glad at his sons returning.

"Even after you have been out to roam."

"Don't worry my son you can always come home."
