That night your girl friend left early for work.
The seat by your side was mine again.
A few other girls had their eyes on the seat.
Only I could take it without hesitation.

Besides, everybody expected you to give me a lift home.
Even when your string of girl friends came and went,
I was always there in that seat by your side.
