An amateur photographer might attempt to use the flash for a subject that is far away but it is advisable to use flash for a picture that is only ten feet far. When taking photographs for the first time, don't worry about getting it right as the film is unlimited, so take several shots in order to increase your chances of getting the shot you want. Modern digital cameras often include "Zoom" function, also known as "Macro Mode" or "Close Up" in different versions. What this does is take small things and make them look bigger. You should use the highest mega pixel resolution possible for your camera, only then you can take detailed pictures. In order to be able to use high resolution you need to get a massive memory card. Unfortunately, these cards are not included with the camera, but the pictures are worth the extra cost. If you are not interested in taking small details of pictures, then perhaps a lower resolution mega pixel setting will give you satisfactory results.
Finally I suggest that the best time to practice or improve digital photography is to shoot during the beginning and ending of the day. Try shooting just after sunrise or right before sunset because everything seems to glow from the sunlight. As the light coming from the sun is bending creates softer lighting. This softer lighting decreases the contrast and improves the quality of your shots.
