Easy Guitar Tabs - Polly By Nirvana
If you are looking for easy guitar tabs of some great songs, then you have to check out Nirvana. This amazing 3 piece band that was part of the Seattle "grunge" era have put together some great songs that have become classics in a short period of time. When Nirvana were first starting to make a name for themselves in the early 90's, songs at that time were filled with fancy guitar solos that were played at super sonic speeds. Nirvana was a refreshing change compared to the music that was popular at the time. The simplicity of Kurt Cobain's guitar playing combined with his emotionally charged lyrics, made Nirvana one of the best band of the 90's.
Play Guitar By Ear - Nashville Number System
Using the number system for chord progressions is a great way to learn to play guitar by ear quickly. This system of using numbers is not new a new system jazz and country musicians have used this method for years, in fact it is sometimes referred to as the "Nashville Numbers System". By using this number system it's easy to discover the common chord progressions in popular music, the benefit of using numbers in place of the traditional alphabetical letters is that it allows us to 'see' how the various mathematical relationships remain constant regardless of key changes. Many students play music for years and never learn to look 'beneath the surface' of the printed music.
The Fender Broadcaster Hidden History
The fabled Fender Telecaster history can be a little confusing but Fender brought the Broadcaster out in the same year the Yankees beat the Philly's 4-0 and President Truman thought about whether to drop the Big One. It seems that the guitar started out as the Esquire, with fewer 50 guitars being rolled out, and many were re-called because Fender couldn't get all the kinks out in the first runs of the guitar. It also seems the Esquire was the first model, with a single pickup in the neck instead of a dual or two pickup system, which is what we know today. Leo Fender made the bold decision to put the name Broadcaster on the two-pickup model, as I guess it added a wider tonal array to the guitar's sound :) Then, all heck broke lose and Gretsch accused Fender of violating their copy-rights wit h the name Broadcaster.

Beginner Guitar Lesson Minus One - Before You Begin With Guitar Lessons
The inspiration for this beginner guitar lesson. As a favor to a friend, I was asked to help with tuning the guitars at a children's concert, held by beginner guitar students of his. What I discovered shocked me. Some of the guitars that these children where expected to learn on where nothing short of unusable and unplayable. Sure, technically speaking you could actually play them, but that didn't mean they weren't going to cause pain and teach young guitar students bad habits that could permanently hamper their ability to progress as guitarists. One particular guitar was a small steel string guitar with strings so high off the neck that I couldn't help but feel sad when I later saw the youngster playing it try to fret the notes.
How to Find a Good Voice Teacher
Finding a good voice teacher is like finding a good builder or doctor, though on a much less serious note (no pun intended). No two voice teachers are the same in their level of experience or their approach. It's important to find someone you are comfortable with, as a person's perceived ability to sing can be a very sensitive issue. Many people taking lessons for the first time do so with nervousness and self-doubt. There are some important qualities to look for in a voice teacher. It's always a plus if the teacher is established enough to be able to give a client reference. Just like when hiring for a job, people are more comfortable knowing that the person they are hiring has a good track record.
Being Scared in a Music Soundtrack
The most effective and frightening soundtrack example I can think of is from Alfred Hitchcock's movie Psycho. Famed soundtrack composer, Bernard Herrmann, created a chilling effect using piercing and screeching violins played in their highest registers. As the film progresses, when you hear that sound cue repeated, you know something really bad is going to happen. Another famous cue that works in a similar way is the 3-note phrase in the low string orchestra that announces the presence of the killer shark in the first Jaws film. Soundtracks moments like the one in Psycho are great for portraying outright evil and horror but underscoring the feeling of fear can be done in subtler ways too.
Guitar Lesson - Is It Necessary To Practice?
Have you ever wondered why you practice on your guitar? Is it really that important to practice? Let us take a look at your practice time! When I started to play guitar I usually had my guitar laying on my bed so I saw it as soon as I entered my room. This made it impossible to forget playing guitar. Actually I liked it so I often took time to play short moments between other activities or when I got really inspired maybe playing for hours. Maybe this can not be defined as actual practice time. I just played around but anyway I developed as a guitarist. Later on my guitar playing endeavors became more serious and I practiced with more concentration and purposefulness.
The Demise Of Rock Music - Why Did This Happen?
To everyone who believes that there has been a demise of rock music, where have you been looking? Corporate owned mainstream radio? Cardboard cutouts at dying music stores? You probably don't want to hear this, but here goes... There are a couple of things to consider: By the time music has hit the mainstream, it has already begun it's decline. Bands that were once creative and raw and real have been polished and watered down by the troubled record companies and old school producers. How often have you seen a rock band in concert with a string ensemble behind it? Even mainstream "punk" has had huge elements of rawness and meaning torn from it to make it more marketable.
Let Out The Song Inside You
Everybody should be able to carry a tune, since there are lots of public events where singing is necessary (like birthday or holiday parties). If you've always been able to sing, that's great, but everyone isn't so lucky. Many people are embarrassed by their lack of singing ability. Musical ability is often taken for granted by good singers. Bad singers are often teased, and at some point the teasing is not funny any more. What should we do? Sometimes people mime, but you can't mime at your Child's birthday party, can you? The answer has got to be to learn to sing! But... * Voice lessons can be high in cost, and sometimes aren't nearby.
