Best Beatles Guitar Riffs

While The Beatles are not often thought of as a riff based band (like Led Zeppelin for example) they did have some great guitar riffs in their songs. What follows are the best guitar riffs of The Beatles, in no particular order.

"Day Tripper"

This guitar riff opens the song and plays throughout most of it. This riff is instantly in your mind and never leaves your mind once it's in there. Plus it rocks.

"Come Together"

This bass guitar riff opens the song and anchors it throughout. It's swampy. It's spooky. And without it the song wouldn't be nearly as cool. One of Paul McCartney's many highlights as a bass player.

"Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me and My Monkey"

This song has two guitar riffs I really love. The opening spiky riff (a variation of this riff can be heard throughout the verses in the background if you listen closely) and the riff that drives the verses. Actually there's a killer 3rd riff I should mention as well, the very groovy riff that ends each chorus and segues the song back to the verses. This is really one of The Beatles riffiest songs and I think it's one of their coolest as well.

"And Your Bird Can Sing"

The ringing doubled riff that opens this song is one of The Beatles coolest guitar moments.

"She Said She Said"

I love the riffs in this song because they sound kind of "off" in a strange way. It helps give the song an off-kilter feeling which fits in well with the lyrics.

"In My Life"

The opening guitar riff of this song is one the prettiest guitar riffs I've ever heard. It's great another example of an instantly memorable Beatles hook. It's repeated just three times after the opening but that's enough as it's so brilliant that's all it takes.
