Scratching Videos - 3 Tips to Help You Choose The Right Videos to Learn From

Without doubt one of the best ways to learn to scratch as a DJ is to watch and learn via videos! This is by far the best way to learn the techniques if you don't have someone at hand who is experienced to show you. With videos, you get to see exactly how to scratch with vinyl! In this article we will talk about scratching videos and some of the tips you need to keep in mind when looking for videos to learn from. So let go straight into the tips...

Tip 1

Has the video been produced by a reputable DJ?

Anyone can produce videos to show you how to scratch... but learning from the cream of the crop is what you want to be aiming for right? I mean, if I was starting all over again on learning how to scratch as a DJ and had no one to show me how to implement the skills necessary I would go in search for videos from a reputable DJ or DJ's who knew what they were talking about. Just cut straight to the chase.

Tip 2

Whats the quality like?

Once I found a reputable DJ to watch and learn via their videos, I would watch out for the type of quality on the production of the videos. There are lots of videos you can find on the net where it shows you how to DJ. The quality on some of these are really bad and are hard to follow the instructions on what the DJ is teaching you. These Scratching videos may have some good content to watch, but what use is it to you when you can't see what is going on in the video. So the quality of the content is very important also! Keep that in mind!

Tip 3

What sort of value did you get from the videos?

On the net, you can find videos that teach you how to scratch and beat mix. But they only go into so much depth about a particular subject. Like they will give you the basics on certain skills, which is fine if that is all you are looking for! But its always good to make sure that you have a good understanding and try to learn as much as you can really. So always measure the value you get from the videos. Just ask yourself a question. "Did I really get much value out of these videos?" "Did I learn something new from these scratch videos?"
