Disney Princess Spotlight - Snow White
Snow White is one of the dearest Disney Princess characters and was the first Disney Princess when she first appeared in Walt Disney's animated fairytale, 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' that premiered on December 21, 1937 was later released to theatres on February 4, 1938. The film was the first animated feature film in history. Like many of Disney's successful animated feature films, the story of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' was originally based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm titled 'Snow White'. The Brothers Grimm, Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm were German academics and they too were responsible for many popular fairy tales that include 'Cinderella', 'Rumpelstiltskin', 'Rapunzel', 'Sleeping Beauty', 'Hansel and Gretel', 'Little Red Riding Hood', 'Golden Goose' and 'The Frog Prince'.
Will Smith in I Am Legend - Film Review
BOTTOM LINE: The film tries really hard to be different to the standard zombie flick, but it just meanders along, lacking tension thanks to unconvincing CGI. Not even Will Smith's most impressive performance to date can raise this film above its poorer qualities. THE GOOD: "I Am Legend" has a premise which will be familiar to any zombie fan; a human-created virus wipes out most of the population on the planet. Those that don't die are turned in to zombie-like monsters, with only a select few immune. Enter Will Smith, the sole survivor in New York City. He wanders the empty streets with his dog, trying to find a cure.
Aliens Vs Predator Requiem - Film Review
BOTTOM LINE: A superior attempt to recreate what was so good about the original "Alien" and "Predator" films, but it's so mean and nasty to the point of ruin, making the film completely distasteful and unenjoyable. THE GOOD: One of the main problems with the first AVP film was that it didn't fit well with the the standalone 'Alien' and 'Predator' films. Many of the rules established in the respective universes of each franchise were broken when inconvenient to the plot, the characters were just crap, the sub-plot pertaining to the Predators creating ancient civilisations on Earth with pyramids etc was contrived, but worst of all, there was only one five minute sequence in the entire film that lived up to the title;
Pokemon - The Rise of Darkrai
If you're looking for real action and excitement in your entertainment, then I suggest you check out a Pokemon movie. You may think that Pokemon is just a game for kids but it's much more. Having a six year old son has really exposed me to some interesting stuff and the Pokemon movies are no exception. The latest Pokemon Movie, The Rise of Darkrai premiered on Cartoon Network this spring but if you missed it, the DVD has been available since May 27, 2008. The animation in this movie is definitely a step up from the other Pokemon movies and it's leaps and bounds ahead of the TV show. Everything has been drawn in more detail with a lot of attention paid to shading and shadows.
Mega HDTV File Downloads Threaten Internet and Hollywood
The technologies of television and computers are converging. With HDTV, the signal is digital, and the barriers to integration are minimal. Many customers of a high-def video system want to take advantage of the associated benefits, including high definition audio, and merging their computer systems with the theater. The primary forces impacting this trend include internet capacity constraints caused by video download demand, property rights of the movie producers (and the technical solutions), and an analysis of the who is likely to reap the financial windfall from it all. Do We have the Internet Bandwidth to Support Downloaded Movies?
Movie Review - Sholay
At last an Indian Western. What took our guys so long to copy a treasure of Western classics waiting to be lapped up? Well, the credit for this movie should rightfully go to the grand old man of Japanese cinema, Akira Kurosawa. Any one who has not seen his "Seven Samurai" has something to look forward to in life. The Master was brilliantly copied by John Sturges in his "The Magnificent Seven". A true classic! I would like to think that "Sholay" is the Sippys' homage to two greats of world cinema. First of all let me introduce the principal characters all of whom have been thoughtfully cast.
How to Find the Best DVD Rental Option For You
The DVD rental industry continues to grow. The local video store used to be the only option for those wanting to rent a movie, but now online rental stores are proving to be stiff competition to their brick-and-mortar counterparts. Some online merchants have aggressive pricing, offering unlimited downloads for the price of a few new DVDs. The online sites are also offering more perks to entice customers to move away from the DVD store down the street. Promotions such as unlimited movie rentals, free shipping and pickup, previews of upcoming movies, recently released movies, membership trials and flexible plans have made several sites popular, according to consumer surveys.
Definately, Maybe - Movie Review
BOTTOM LINE: A romantic, light-hearted drama that takes a while to get going but isn't silly, corny, or predictable like most others of its type making for an entertaining and different film. THE GOOD: "Definitely, Maybe" can loosely be thrown in to the romantic comedy genre for marketing purposes but it isn't really one of those films. The trailers definitely seemed to give that indication; a guy has to juggle three women and in the process figure out which one he really wants through comedic antics. But that's not what actually happens at all in this film. Instead, we have a father, Will Hayes, telling his daughter Maya the story about how he met her mother.
Anthony Hopkins in FRACTURE - Movie Review
BOTTOM LINE: Anthony Hopkins turns in a brilliantly tricky, yet understated performance in a film that tells a good story but lacks any real tension to get you emotionally invested in this supposed thriller. THE GOOD: The previews of this film seemed to suggest a clever-Hannibal type performance from Anthony Hopkins. In many ways, his character is obviously not Hannibal but he does create a very intelligent, cunning character in Ted Crawford. He's so confident he's going to outsmart the legal system that he actually confesses to the murder of his wife at the beginning of the film yet somehow manages to escape conviction by exploiting the legal system's flaws.
What s Wrong With Piracy?
This isn't a self-righteous rant. This isn't an industry insider hate-speech. This is just a normal person who chooses not to pirate movies telling you why. I run a blog called Club Columbia DVD. I love movies. Always have. They've had a huge influence on the way I live my life for better or worse. But I'm also a human being. On the surface piracy makes sense. Why pay for watching a movie when you can just see it for free? Some people bring up how the economy is tight and the last thing they need to be spending money on is a bunch of overpriced DVDs. They have an image of corporate fat-cats grinning over their bank statements as the money just keeps rolling in.
