How To Get Entertainment And Enjoy Yourself
You're at home so relish over that giant cheeseburger and fries you brought home or left over chicken with all its accouterments. Food and movies have been cooperating since Eve handed Adam that apple.
One of the greatest classic comedies I was ever to enjoy was "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" 1963, (yeah, OK, I'm an old guy) an all star cast, 2 Oscar awards and 9 nominations. My brother and I received an invitation to attend one of the many releases. This was at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood (humongous screen), we were on the 3rd row from the front, and at about 11 years old, chomping on a bag of popcorn, We were most definitely along for a ride.
A group of people witnesses an accident, the victim reveals a treasure of money buried under a big "W" located in Santa Rosita at southern California. One of the most hilarious chases ever created. Great opportunity to have a potluck, gather some friends and create a memory.
This movie is about 3 hours long with an intermission pause. This calls for FINGER FOODS. I would say smoked salmon and crackers with fruit and wine. Cook something in a crock pot like a stew and make some crustini's. How about a thin crust pizza cut in squares along with wings and dipping sauce? Egg rolls, YES, egg rolls and low mien or orange chicken.
Have lots of popcorn with a few dashes of Tabasco or cheese popcorn. Hey, the world is your oyster...Oh!! OYSTERS!! Of course, we can have sea food. Everyone brings something of the protein and very low carbo so by the time the movie is over, you won't feel so stuffed and yes, there will be desert.
Memories can happen in a wink of an eye or they can be created. Make that first phone call to a friend and suggest a potluck and a movie and may I suggest "It's a mad mad mad mad world"?
